Valve is widely expected to roll out a list of third-party manufacturing partners for its Steam Machine initiative at a rare press event later tonight. Part of the company’s announcement may have already been spoiled, however, as Engadget is reporting that it has “learned” of a dozen companies that will be “among the first to sign on to Valve’s initiative.”
The full list, as reported by Engadget, includes Alienware, Falcon Northwest, iBuyPower, CyberPowerPC, Origin PC, Gigabyte, Materiel.net, Webhallen, Alternate, Next, Zotac, and Scan Computers.
Of those 12, iBuyPower was the only one with previously revealed SteamOS plans; partial specs for the company’s $499 entry-level system leaked back in November. This morning, CyberPowerPC joined that club by announcing the baseline specs for a pair of customizable SteamOS-powered rigs it plans to put out in the second half of 2014.
