Rdio moves from subscription model, offers unlimited free streaming

Following Spotify’s announcement of unlimited desktop streaming, Rdio announced Friday that it will now offer unlimited streaming through its website. The free Web-based service is ad-supported, which is a new move for the service.

On a Web-based, ad-supported account, users will hear intermittent “in-stream messaging,” including “messages from partner brands, notifications about exclusive content, and other helpful tips.”
